So I caved. I'm sorry for giving in to the strange looks that followed me mentioning I'd never tried or swatched the Jeffree Star Cosmetics liquid lipstick line. I wasn't oblivious to the hype over these lipsticks. I've been following these products and Jeffrey himself for a while. Now the shades started as being relatively wearable and then, as predicted by many, they were blessed by the Jeffree twist. The bright colours - The blues, greens, purples and pinks emerged and the Instagram world all but went into chaos with every launch. If you're into make-up, but have avoided the monster of cosmetic addiction, you're probably thinking that people really exaggerate the greatness of a product due to the name on them. You'd be right but this time with the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks, the hype is well worth it.

I am in a small state of Australia where there is not a single store that stocks JSC. Now that I've tried them, this fact pains me more. Luckily, I was able to travel to the next state over to find the brand. To me, it's weird that I was directed to Windsor Smith Footwear in Melbourne. Upon walking into the store, there was no sale rack or display of any kind. I asked the woman at the counter and she spoke in a hushed tone. She went out the back and and bought back a small, very banged up box of some JSC lipstick shades. One $35 transaction later and I was the proud new owner of ABUSED. My second shade, ANDROGYNY, came much easier and cheaper through a friend who happened to have an extra on hand.

Now ABUSED and ANDROGYNY are different formulas as they have been updated since the beginning of Jeffree's cosmetic launch! I can't say that every shade has a new and old version because I'm not really sure what happened there. The old or "original" formula has a licorice scent and it's unlike anything I've found in a lipstick product before. The new formula is scentless. These lipsticks are very thin and a little goes a long way! They are super comfortable and they are long lasting. I do find that they are build-able to two layers. Any more and they are flaky. One solid swipe and you get a full coverage, high pigment lip. I love these and have high expectations for Jeffree's upcoming releases in the SkinFrosts and Beauty Killer Eyeshadow Pallet (release in May 2016). Overall, I have no complaints when it comes to these liquid lipsticks. The vegan and cruelty free product is in my top 10. They are generous in amount and you're never going to be disappointed by the pigmentation. Worth the purchase!

Stardust's Rating: 9/10
